Walkthrough: Buffy, the vampire slayer: Chaos bleeds
The First's Lair
Once inside the First's humble abode the doors will lock behind the Slayer, so there is no turning back. First thing's first: grab some Stakes from either side of the door and take on some adventurous vampires who have learned the art of blocking attacks. Take them out and move forward to be attacked by a couple of Materani losers. Once you have disposed of them, explore the left side of the quad to find a Pitchfork and another Stake. The door at the far end is locked (isn't the Slayer able to bust through locks with her super-human strength? What gives?) so walk on up to the catapult and use it to bust a hole through a door on the upper platform. Fight your way over to the other piece of primitive machinery and push it toward the right balcony until it connects. Jump onto the tower and from there, to the balcony; turn right and run along the path until you reach two doors. Go through the one on the left, follow the hall to the corner, turn right, and pummel some Materani here. Turn right again and go through the double doors to the armory.
In this new and exciting room, there are two vampires just waiting to make a love connection, so take them out quickly and take the two Glass Jars near the suits of armor. Take a Battleaxe from the corner and grab the lit Torch from the armor to open a secret door. Go through the new passage and tear down a couple of zombies. Pick up a Key Mold, Glass Jar, and Medi-Pak before placing the Torch in the armor's hand. Go through the double doors, turn left, and then left a second time and enter the door on the right to emerge in the first quad balcony. Drop down, go to the stone platform and pull yourself up to enter the doors opened via the catapult.
Head right and climb the steps for some vampires and two crates that equal more Stakes for your inventory. Turn left, proceed down the corridor, and beat up on some more undead creatures. Turn left (again) and walk down another set of steps and go through the side door that the attacking vampire comes out of. Lay the smack down on two more vampires and pick up a Stake from the corner before going into battle with a couple of Materani. After they have been thwarted go through the set of double doors to the left. Go to the cart and push it away from the doors; go through the left one and fight off two vampires. Examine the forge and put the Key Mold on to the undersized pedestal before going right and turning the wheel. Doing this gains you the Skeleton Key -- hurray! Take the Charcoal Dust from the corner of the room and go back to the courtyard; go up the steps and up to the entrance you came from. Turn left, go up the stairs, follow the passage to the right, and unlock the door to the left in the middle of the route.
Two Bringers are hanging about in here, so show them what the Chosen One is made of and check one of the fountains on the left to fill your Glass Jars with Holy Water. At the other fountain, you can make some Gorgon Stakes to make slaying a little easier. Go up to the altar and take the Candlestick from it. Leave this room through the doors on the right and pick up a Pitchfork and some Crossbow Ammo (unlimited supply!) in the next room. Walk past the door and brawl with two Materani, being careful not to get knocked into the moat. When all is slain continue down past the drawbridge to the doors on the left, which are locked. Pick up the Crossbow and two Stakes (both from crates) and go to the area where the drawbridge has been raised. Aim the Crossbow at the discreet hole in the wall to release the bridge. Refill your arrows via the quiver on the right and take down another vampire before going into the new spot.
Break the crate for another lovely Stake and go through the next set of double doors; beat up the Materani that charge you and climb down the steps to another courtyard. Grab a Stake from the crate on the left and beat the holy hell out of the two approaching vampires. Jump into the well in the center of the chamber and ride down to a secret area. Step off of the platform and turn left, sending three zombies back to their graves. Turn around and check the corner for three Stakes, a Medi-Pak, and an Axe. Move to the reverse side of the well to find the Sundial Hand. When you have picked up all of the toys, go through the door into a curved catacombs hall and slap some more zombie deadbeats around.
Go back to the courtyard and jump across the pile of wood to the balcony; go right and dust the vampire. When that is done, go through the door he just came out from. In the next room, turn left and pick up another Candlestick from the wall. Go through the doors to a new room and drop down from the balcony. Find two Stakes to the left of the barred door and fight off some more of the undead before using the Sundial Hand on the sundial in the center of the chamber. Press the Use button to unlock the door at the base of the steps underground and go inside to find a bottle of Hell-Fire, a vial of Holy Water, a Medi-Pak, and a Sword. Good stuff. Go back to the courtyard and head through the door in the far right corner. Go right, down the steps and go through the door on the right. Break the box in here for a Stake and then turn left and climb up a set of stairs; when you reach the intersection, turn right, trounce a vampire, and walk up the stairs and into the door on the right. Dust the two vampires here and look around the room for two Medi-Paks and a Battle Axe.
Make your way back to the courtyard and go into the large circular tower room via the door in the far left corner of the area. Pull three blocks out of the wall and stand on the wooden platform to descend into the basement. Leave here and take out two Bringers in the next room before taking a Stake from the crate by the locked doors to the left. Follow the tunnel and go through the doors; break another box for a Stake and cross the bridge on the left. Turn right for a Medi-Pak and go through the doors in the corner to the left. Destroy the pyromaniac vampire in this room and claim the Block of Sulfur from the table as your own. Now it is time go all the way back to the quad that had the cannon in it. To do that, go back across the bridge, make a left through the doors and ride the wooden platform upstairs to the sundial courtyard. From here, jump on the cart to reach the balcony, go through the door on the left, and into the courtyard with the well in it. Drop down, go up the steps, to the drawbridge, cross it and go left. Take the door on the right into the chapel, go left, through the door, make a right, follow the corridor, and down the stairs to the door on the right.
Now that you are back to the cannon, take out the vampires and Bringer in here and go through the doors on the right. Make a right, go down the stairs, and beat up a random pair of Bringers before going up to the grinding stone. Stand on the right side and place the Block of Sulfur here; pull the chain to crush it and mix it with the Charcoal Dust. Now that you have successfully made Gunpowder, go back to the cannon and use it to smash through a locked door ahead. Go through the door into a new corridor (break the box on the right for a Stake if you're running low) and slap the trio of Bringers here. Turn right, into the far door and have a merry old time executing two Materani and two vampires.
Open up a Stake Crate at the bottom of the stairs and examine the wall indents opposite of the fireplace. Place the Candlesticks you picked up earlier onto the empty brackets to reveal a window hiding under a tapestry. Pull the second and third sconces to open up a secret wall. Go through the secret passage, destroy the demonic foes in here, and take the Medi-Pak from the corner table before going through the next set of doors. Ignore the locked door on the left and follow the path, taking out whatever attacks on the way. Break the box for a Stake and continue through the doors at the end of the hall, slapping some Materani on the way. Take Hope's Dagger and the Medi-Pak and make your way back to the sundial courtyard. (Go through the door, turn right, and follow the path to a door; go inside, up the stairs, and through the door to the right before climbing the balcony. Turn right and re-enter the sundial courtyard.) Once you are back, move to the doors that have a sword hole to the left and open them. Follow the pathway until you reach a large hall sporting three blue pentagrams on the floor. Are you ready?
Final Boss Fight: The First (as Ethan Rayne)
Equip Hope's Dagger and have your Medi-Paks ready at all times. The First has a set of three dangerous attacks: first, he shoots a fireball at you, then he forms a pentangle under you that hits you with an incapacitating energy bolt (he likes to do it when there is a lull in the action), and finally, he lowers his shield and blasts sends out an energy wave that knocks you down.
Okay, so the only way to harm this joker is to disrupt his energy flow. To do this, take out the Bringers on the pentagrams. When they are gone, hit The First using Hope's Dagger, as this is the only weapon that can hurt him. The first time he is hit, the weapon will go flying out of Buffy's hands, so be prepared to dodge some attacks while retrieving the sword. Look for the pattern to repeat itself (fireballs, pentangles, and energy waves), take out the Bringers, and attack The First some more. Do this about six times and victory is yours. Congratulations. Sit back and enjoy the ending.
