Walkthrough: Buffy, the vampire slayer: Chaos bleeds

The Magic Box

The game opens with a cut scene of (surprise!) Buffy kicking the snot out of some vampires that have stormed the Magic Box and effectively ruined the surprise party planned for her. Take control of the Slayer and wail on the four vampires that will attack you. As soon as the foul bloodsuckers have been dusted, another cut scene will start, and from there you will take control of everybody's favorite pagan, Willow. As Willow your prime objective is to find Kraus's Compendium, but exploring the store beforehand is crucial in that there are many goodies to pick up here, as well as some secrets to find.

Before climbing down the ladder, run to the right side of the balcony and pick up the Medi-Pak on the floor -- you may need this later. Now, climb down the ladder; from there, go behind the ladder and search the box in the corner for an infinite supply of Stakes (you can only carry 5 at a time). Search the bookcase near the entrance of to the cash wrap to find another Medi-Pak and two Hell-Fire bottles; now search the low cabinet for a hidden Medi-Pak (this is one of three secrets in this level). While you are behind the counter, search the shelves for another Medi-Pak and three bottles of Holy Water. Go to the bookcase that juts outward on the other side of the store and search the smaller shelves near it for Holy Water and Hell-Fire. Enter the study and search the three bookcases for another bottle of Hell-Fire. Move to the lamp in the corner of the room and punch it until some Holy Water drops from the lampshade; you have just found secret number two of three! Celebrate!

Search the curio cabinet to find that there is strong magic coming from it; however, it is locked. Bummer. Go back to the cash register and turn left; grab the key on the wall (next to the door) and go back to the cabinet. Unlock it to find Kraus's Compendium of Magical Combat, which will teach Willow the Sun Spell. Finding this book triggers more vampires to attack, so get ready to fight them off using standard punches and kicks, or Willow's newly learned magic. Either way, after you defeat them, another cut scene will start.

Once the story-telling goodness ends, take control of Xander and beat the incoming vampires into dusty pulps. Xander will start out with all of the items that were previously collected, so use the Stakes to your advantage. When both vampires have been dusted, run to the metal desk to find some Holy 'Water and a Medi-Pak. Take the Crossbow and get ready to fight some more undead fiends. After the battle, search the box in the corner of the room for some Stakes before moving to the table to collect the Battleaxe. Destroy the last two vampires in the room and claim your reward: another cut scene!

Now that you have control of Spike, quickly take out the pair of vampires running at you, using the ever so handy Quick Stake button. Continue forward and a zombie will attack; smash it to bits, and another zombie will stagger out of its coffin (why the hell are there dead bodies in the basement of the Magic Box anyway??). Take it out quickly before it starts vomiting on Spike; pick up the Sword on the desk, and the Medi-Pak to the left of the stairs and then move toward the large purple drape. Open the door near the curtain and pummel the vampires in the next room; a corpse will emerge from the left side of the room so hack it to bits before its friend appears and tries to seduce Spike with that beautiful, green vomit. Kill it and grab the bottle of Hell-Fire on the bookcase before opening the next door.

In the next room, more vampires and zombies will attack, so dispatch them quickly before they gang up on poor Spike. Once everything has been beaten to bits, take another bottle of Hell-Fire from the first bookcase and search the second one for the Relic. Now, see that gargoyle statue in the corner of the room? Go over to it and press the Use Button to make Spike put the Relic into the statue's mouth. This opens up a secret chamber in which you will find a Baseball Bat and a Medi-Pak. Enter the next room, where you will see Tara and Anya in a prison cell (why the hell is there a prison cell in the Magic Box??); before you can free them, more vampire scum will attack. Bludgeon them to certain death using the newly acquired Baseball Bat (or good old fashioned melee combat -- whatever). Pick up the key dropped by the vampire and search the back corner of the room for another bottle of Hell-Fire before approaching the cell and setting the girls free.

Back upstairs take control of Buffy and help Willow dispose of the remaining vampires coming into the shop. Be careful -- Willow's Sun Spell can and will damage you, so keep your distance when helping her kick some vampire ass. Once everything is disposed of another cut scene will start, and the gang will reunite.
