Season 1 Episode 01 - Children of the Gods

Several serpent-armored aliens launch an attack through the inactive Stargate tucked away by the military several years after the events of the movie. They kill the guards except for one, who they take prisoner.

Colonel Jack O'Neill retired after the events of the movie but is called back to duty by General George Hammond. He is forced to admit that he didn't detonate a nuclear bomb on Abydos as ordered, and that Daniel Jackson is still alive there. It soon becomes clear that these aliens originated from somewhere other then Abydos.

O'Neill is assigned a new squad which includes Kawalsky and Ferretti from the original Abydos mission. He is also assigned Capt. Samantha Carter, an Air Force astrophysicist. Named SG-1, O'Neill and his team go through Stargate once they verify the Gate at the other end is still open. They meet with Jackson who reveals he is married to Sha're, an Abydonian woman. Jack is reunited with Skaara, the young Abydan boy he had befriended on the previous mission. Daniel reveals that he found a giant cartouche within the pyramid that appears to be a map of Stargates throughout the galaxy.

They are interrupted by the arrival of Apophis, who arrives through the Stargate with his Serpent Guards. After opening fire, he takes Sha're and Skaara and departs, but Ferretti, who was left for dead, sees Apophis' Gate code indicating the alien's destination. O'Neill and Jackson decide to use the code to follow Apophis and rescue their loved ones.
