Season 2 Episode 01 - Orphan of War

When Xena and Gabrielle are walking a along one day that get attacked by a large group of armed men. They start to fight them and then realise that someone else is killing them with arrows, they turn around to see who it is and find out it is a group of centaurs. Xena recognises them immediately but before she has time to say anything a 12 year old boy falls out of the tree above them and starts attacking Xena. Xena pushes him away, and a confused Gabrielle asks if Xena knows the boy, she replies, "Yes, he's my son".

Xena starts to see what happened along time ago when she gave up Solan again. She was attacking an army of centaurs and trusted one of the men, she offered to withdraw her army from the slaughter if he promise he would look after her son, the centaur agreed because the father was Borias a kind man who turned against the Xena to help the centaurs. Xena then explains to the centaurs that she came back to help them as an evil man who used to be in her army call Dagnen had come back to get the same precious stone that Xena had tried to get 12 years ago. It was legend that who ever used the stone would be turned in to the most powerful centaur ever. Fearing for there lives the centaurs grudgingly except Xena help. Dagnen isn't stupid though he has being watching Xena ever since she entered the centaur village and now knows Xena's innermost weakness, her son. Dagnen and his men kidnap Solan whilst he is out walking with Gabrielle, when Xena finds out she goes to rescue him, but things don't go exactly to plan and instead of just freeing Solan Xena also finds the caves that the powerful stone was secretly kept in, of coarse, this helps Dagnen to get the stone and become the centaur. When the evil warlord turns in to the powerful centaur Xena and the village immediately set up a great defence and together they mange to kill Dagnen. The task was done and it was time for Xena and Gabrielle to leave, but Xena does not want to go because of Solan so she goes over and talks to him, still not knowing that Xena is his mother Solan tells her that he is sorry for the earlier attack and always wants to be friends for ever. With the emotional goodbye Xena and Gabrielle leave the village and Solan.
