Season 3 Episode 11 - Maternal Instincts

Xena and Gabrielle go back to see Solan, Xena's son, Gabrielle gets a nice surprise when she is there because Ephiny and her son Xenan is also there. While there Gabrielle meets a girl called Fayla who is being used by Callisto, Callisto goes to Xena and tells her that she is going to kill her son but Gabrielle and Xena manage to trick her and Solan goes to the caves while Gabrielle pretends to be Solan. When Kaleipus and Solan get to the cave Fayla is waiting there, she kills Kaleipus and Solan runs of. Gabrielle finds out that Fayla is actually her daughter Hope and still thinking she is good she promises to protect her from Callisto and takes her to the same place Xena took Solan. Gabrielle keeps it from Xena but when she lets it slip Xena runs to where Solan was to see if he is still alive.

When she gets in Solan is knelt by an alter, dead. Xena's cries of woe fill the air and when Gabrielle finds out she knows that she has to kill Hope with poison. Xena saves the rest of the villager from Callisto while Gabrielle poisons her daughter and then tries to take her own life, but Hope drank all the poison so Gabrielle just goes back to the village. Xena an Gabrielle burn the body of there dead children and while Gabrielle apologises to Xena and tell her that she loves her, Xena just shows hatred and tells her that she doesn't even have the right to speak Solan 's name. A great friendship has been demolished by hatred and Callisto.
