Season 3 Episode 16 - When in Rome...

A man named Vercinix is captured by Caesar, he is a great fighter and was captured because he stood against the Romans. Vercinix was to be executed at the end of one of the great festivals that Caesar held. So Xena captured one of Caesar's best men Crassus and said she would kill him unless they returned Vercinix. Caesar agreed but Xena knew he was lying so she though of a plan. What she was going to do was swap Vercinix and Crassus around, none of the guards would know the difference only Caesar and Pompey would know and by then it would be to late and. With all the Roams watching Caesar would have no choice but to execute Crassus instead. Xena got a key for Vercinix' s jail and Gabrielle was t make the switch, being Gabrielle she couldn't bear to let Crassus die so when she put him in the dungeon she was going to give him his imperial ring, which only a few great Romans have. If he showed the ring to one of the guards then they would know who he was. In the meantime Xena was asked by Pompey to kill Caesar, this was enough for Xena but when she tried to she was also thrown in the dungeon. Caesar was going to execute her at the beginning of the festival but because she was such a great warrior she survived the vicious attack by the gladiators and was put back in her jail. Meanwhile Gabrielle freed Vercinix and did the swap just as she was about to give him his ring Vercinix told her that he kill hundred of men, women and child by crucifixion some of then were Vercinix' s family. Gabrielle didn't give him the ring and Crassus was executed, Xena got out of jail and Vercinix went back to his wife, Mendala, and his child getting ready to fight the next battle against the Romans.
