Season 4 Episode 07 - Locked Up and Tied Down

Xena is put on trial for the murder of Thalassa, which she committed when she was evil. She is proven guilty and, much to Gabrielle's dismay, Xena is taken to Shark island prison to serve a life sentence. She goes willingly because she feels so guilty even though Gabrielle is pleading with her to not go. When she gets there she is re-united with an evil woman she used to know called Ersina, they don't like each other now though. She is treated badly by one of the prison guards, especially when she tries to help a weak woman. Meanwhile off the island Gabrielle has found out that the prison warden is badly injured and needs a new hearer, so of course Gabrielle applies for the job so she can be with Xena. When she gets there Gabrielle realises that the prison warden is Thalassa and she never died.

What happened is Xena left Thalassa in a cave and she was slowly eaten by crabs, she couldn't get away because she had been tied down, but one of the crab chewed her arm off and she got free. The next day when the villagers came back she wasn't there and was presumed dead. Gabrielle quickly found Xena, who was in a rat-infested dungeon and gave her her Chakram. Xena managed to get free and save Gabrielle who was about to be hung by the prison guard for helping Xena. Also because of Gabrielle Thalassa realised it was time she moved on in her life and stopped hating Xena, she even told Xena that she had to stop hating herself for the crimes she committed when she was evil because now Xena was good.
