Season 4 Episode 16 - The Way

Xena and Gabrielle conclude their adventures in India with Gabrielle and Xena searching for a spiritual quest. While trying to decide if a warrior really is the life Xena wants to lead she gets attacked by a group of men trying to stop Xena and Gabrielle reaching the avatar. Xena and Gabrielle manage to defeat them and Xena finds out that it is demon called Indrajit who is trying to stop them. The go in search for this avatar, which is supposes to be a God in human form, when they find him it turns out to be Eli, the healer from "Devi". Eli is still healing people but now he now knows a bit more about his power. While talking to Gabrielle, Xena realises that they are being followed but she has no idea who is following them until later on that night when the follower shows himself. His name is Hanuman and he is an ape but a very evolved one who can talk like a normal human. Hanuman is trying to help Eli, he tells Xena that they must go to the temple of Krishna, and so that is where they go. On the way Gabrielle asks Eli what THE truth is, he tells her that it is life and that we should revere it. He then goes on to explain that we can only do this by using peace. In the meantime Hanuman is explaining to Xena that she must chose her path, her "WAY" and she can only chose one way. They manage to get to the temple and Gabrielle starts talking to Hanuman about what Eli says, Hanuman explains that his way is the ultimate way and only a few can follow it. Then Indrajit attacks Xena, Gabrielle, Eli and Hanuman and he manages to capture both Gabrielle and Eli and takes them to his palace in the demon land. Xena wants to go and get Gabrielle and Eli back but Hanuman tells her the only way she can do that is with Krishna's help. Meanwhile Eli and Gabrielle are locked up in a room in the palace Eli explains to her that he has to keep loyal to his faith the way of love and peace. He tries to show Gabrielle his way but she is tricked by Indrajit in the first few minutes and tries to fight Indrajit and now he can kill her. At the same time Xena has now got the attention of Krishna, he explains to her that she to has A Way that she must follow, her way is The Way of the Warrior, and if she keeps faithful to it then she will redeem her crimes from her past and she will be reincarnated with Gabrielle into the life she saw in "Between the Lines". Then Krishna tells her to go find Gabrielle and Eli and if she needs his help all she has to do is call his name. Xena finds Gabrielle just in time and starts to fight him, but Indrajit turns in to a demon with 6 arms. Xena and Indrajit have a massive fight and Indrajit cuts off Xena's hand, then her arm, then her other arm. He leaves her there while he goes to fight Gabrielle, but Xena say Krishna's name and she then turns into a demon looking creature with 6 arms as well. This time Xena defeats Krishna and kills him. Xena, Gabrielle and Eli leave the land of the dead and are stood talking by the lake that they started off by. Xena tells Gabrielle that she has chose The Way of The Warrior, then Gabrielle throws her fighting staff into the river and tell Xena that she has chose the ultimate way The Way of love and peace.
