Season 6 Episode 02 - The Haunting of Amphipolis

Xena, Gabrielle and Eve have traveled back to Xena's home village of Amphipolis so that Eve can meet her grandmother Cyrene. But when they get there they find out it has been completely deserted and Xena's mother is dead. While Xena goes to try and find out what happened to her mother and how she died Eve and Gabrielle stay at Cyrene's tavern. After a few minutes strange thing start to happen first Gabrielle eats some fruit and then sees maggots crawling out of it. She runs to wash her hands to get rid of the maggots and then a maggot wrangles out of her skin. Then a few more maggots' start to crawl out, Gabrielle tries pulling them out and all the flesh on her hands get eaten by the maggots.

Outside Eve has had problems of her own but she does a chant and everything goes back to normal including Gabrielle's hands. Then Gabrielle is sucked into a portal through the floor and is being drowned by some half-dead demons. By now Xena has got back and pulls Gabrielle out of the portal. But Gabrielle's body is burning so she goes to take a shower. Xena explains that her mother was tormented by the evil that haunted the tavern and that the village people thought she was a witch so they burn her at the stake. Cyrene is now in hell, which is control by the demon Mephistopheles and is being tortured in death now. Then in the shower Gabrielle has been possessed by Mephistopheles and explains that he wants Eve's blood, Eve casts Mephistopheles out of Gabrielle body then Xena decides to save her mother and so teaches Gabrielle how to take off the pinch so that she can put the pinch on her self then Gabrielle can wake her up. Xena does the pinch and goes to hell where she fights Mephistopheles but she can't hurt him in Hell so she goes back and gets Eve to spill her blood, which make Mephistopheles flesh again. Xena finds out that it she kills Mephistopheles she will have to become the ruler of Hell but she kills him anyway and Cyrene's soul is saved.
