Season 6 Episode 05 - Legacy

Xena and Gabrielle travel to the desert and almost as soon as they get there they see two Nomad tribes fighting. One of them is severely out numbered and so Xena and Gabrielle help. After saving their lives Xena and Gabrielle are about to leave but then when the tribe realize who they are they reveal that in their land Xena the Warrior Princess and Gabrielle the Battling Bard of Potadeia are famous legends. Xena and Gabrielle agree to stay a while and soon find out that the Romans are trying to kill all the Nomad tribes so Xena and Gabrielle decide to stay and help them fight the Romans.

That night Gabrielle tells Xena that she is having problems working out whether to kill or just disable her opponents but Xena reassures her that she does the right thing by killing if it is what her instincts tell her to do. The next day Xena meets up with some more Nomad tribes and Gabrielle gets a fan that wants to be like her and learn the same way of fighting that she has learnt. Gabrielle agrees to teach him once the Romans are dealt with. Xena decides that she and Gabrielle should pay the Romans a visit going undercover as a wealthy Romans wife and her slave. When they go Xena finds out a little more about what sort of attack the Romans have planned against the Nomads. On the way back to the tribe a very bad sand storm starts and Gabrielle sees a man creeping up on Xena, she gets out her Sais a kills the man thinking he is an enemy but soon finds out it was really Korah, the man who wanted Gabrielle to teach him her ways of fighting. In his hand he had a scroll which Gabrielle mistaken as a dagger and as he was dying Gabrielle realized she had just murdered an innocent man. Xena takes Korah's dead body back to his father and is suppose to tell him how Korah died while Gabrielle waits for her in their tent. But Xena can't and tells them the Romans killed him. When Gabrielle finds out Xena explains to her that the penalty for what Gabrielle did is death and she can't let her die. Gabrielle tells the tribe what happened though because she can't bear the guilt despite what Xena wants. The Nomad tribes put Gabrielle in prison and plan to execute her in the morning. That night Gabrielle starts to think about her life and how much she has changed and starts to cry thinking that the world will be better of with out her. In the morning Gabrielle is pushed into a hole in the ground and the tribes are about to kill her, but Xena has told the Romans where the Nomads are and they attack them before Gabrielle is killed. Xena gets Gabrielle out of the hole and the Nomads run off. Gabrielle tells Xena how much she wanted to die the night before and Xena tells her that she felt like that once. When Gabrielle asks her how she got over it Xena replies that Gabrielle showed up. The two of them realize that they have come to a full circle. Then they return to the Nomad tribe and persuade the Nomads to let them lead them in a battle against the Romans, when they do Gabrielle saves the father of Korah from being killed by a Roman and the Nomads beat the Romans. The Nomads forgive Gabrielle and so does Korah's father but Gabrielle knows she can never forgive herself.
