Season 6 Episode 09 - The Return of the Valkyrie

It is now one year after Gabrielle got circled by Brunnhilda's protective flame and she is still trapped in there. She is asleep and has been for the entire year, during that year many men have been killed trying to pass through the flame but they all died. Now Beowulf and a Viking Lord are trying to pass through, but Lord Eric dies when the monster Grinhilda attacks him. Beowulf and his friend manage to get away and Beowulf has decided to leave try and think of a way through. They go to the wedding of their King who is marrying a woman named Wealthea. When Beowulf sees her he gets a nasty shock when he finds out that Wealthea is actually Xena!

Xena was presumed dead after loosing her memory and now that she isn't actually dead Beowulf knows he can use her to set Gabrielle free. After Xena and King Hrothgar get married Beowulf goes to her room and tells her about whom she really is, but she doesn't believe him. Then Hrothgar comes in and thinks they are having an affair and sends them both to prison. Beowulf and Xena fight to get free and Beowulf manages to persuade Xena to help her save Gabrielle, who she still doesn't remember. They head towards Gabrielle but while doing so Odin has found out that Xena is still alive and sends his Valkyrie to kill her. When they get to her she refuses to fight, saying that it is not her way, Odin realizes that she has lost her memory and could help him get the ring, which Gabrielle has, and so he leaves her alone. Odin explains to his chief Valkyrie that he is going to use Xena to get the ring, because he wants it for himself, she is very annoyed because he is suppose to be in love with her but obviously isn't or else he couldn't use the ring, so she and the Valkyrie go to kill Xena. By the time they reach her she is by the circle of fire that protects Gabrielle and the ring. They attack straight away, along with Grinhilda, but Beowulf and Xena manage to fight them off and Xena passes through the flames. When she gets inside she gets her memory back and kisses Gabrielle, waking her up, after an emotional reunion Xena gets the ring and decides to take it back to the Rhien Maidens, after sorting out Grinhilda. She traps Grinhilda in a cave and tells her to look inside her heart and forgive Xena for what she did along time ago. Xena walks out of the cave along with the ring and has Grinhilda, in normal human form, behind her. Because she forgave Xena she beat the curse of the ring. Xena and Gabrielle say goodbye to Beowulf and together they take the ring back to the Rhien Maidens, but only after persuading Odin to take Grinhilda back as head of the Valkyries.
